No food and drinks in the class room except for water
bottles
-> Consequences: a warning will be put up on our bulletin board if we find that messes are left behind in the class room due to people
bringing foods and drinks in the class room. Warnings are to be taken very seriously, if the rule is broken after two warnings, class observation will be
discontinued for the class breaking this rule.
No class observation other than parents: Only guardians
and parents (two MAX) per child are permitted inside the class room area.
-> Consequences: a warning will be put up on the bulletin. If warning is ignored class observation will be discontinued for the classes
that break the rules for the remaining of the season. Open class observation is only allowed on the last class date of each season.
No Distraction is Permitted During Class: This means,
no one should be entering or exiting the room while class is in session. No one is permitted to roam around the class room during class session. Parents
that must bring siblings to class are asked to please sit furthest away from the class room floor area. Please find things to keep siblings occupied. Siblings
that are active and cannot stay still, parents should observe class from the hallway with active siblings. No cell phones or "chatting" during
class.
-> Consequences: a warning will be posted on our bulletin, if warning is ignored, open class observation will be closed until the last
class date of the season for that particular class.
No Roaming the Class Room! This rule is absolutely NOT
to be ignored! Children of all ages are not to be roaming the class room area regardless if there is a class in session or not. Kids are not allowed to
climb on tables, rails, or other devices in the room. Kids may not play with KKZ materials, toys, and class accessories unless being used specifically for
class instructed by the instructor.
-> Consequences: If this rule is ignored only one warning will be noted, thereafter immediate action will be taken for the particular
class (class will no longer be permitted in the room except to enter for class (dancers ONLY) and will be asked to exit the class immediately after class
session.
Ages 30 months through Three
1. Do not encourage and allow preschoolers to roam freely in the room. Our goal is to teach them structure and following instruction, if
they are allowed to do anything other than, they will assume it is ok anytime they attend class. Do not allow toddlers to continuously wave at you during
class. Wave once, and shake your head no there after. Toddlers are like water, one child waves, they all wave. While they are cute and funny, other parents
might be aggravated if every week all through the class their child is constantly being distracted by another child.
2. Encourage Toddlers to Follow Class Routines: Some kids will follow immediately without any troubles, others will have no concept of
routine and try to wander off or around the room, some will be shy and literally freeze in place. If your child is continuously running around the room,
out of place, or off the floor, we will only attend to the child twice, thereafter, the parent will be responsible for disciplining their child to follow
class routine. Children that continue to not follow routine after two weeks, parents will be asked to have child sit during class until they can follow
the routine. Toddlers that are shy and freeze in place, will be encouraged to join the class, however if they show any sign of rejection, we respect their
wishes and privacy. We strongly encourage parents to be PATIENT, we want to earn their trust! If we force shy children against their wishes, we will NEVER
earn their trust. Sometimes trust is earned within one-four classes sometimes it takes us the whole season.
3. Attend to Shy Crying Children: We do ask that parents do attend to their child only the first two classes if the child shows fear, shyness,
and crying. We do not necessarily feel the class is unsuitable but we do want them to grow trust of the instructor and the assistants and the class as a
whole. Even if your child is the ONLY child in class rejecting or crying, your child is not the first, last, or ONLY. We deal with shy hesitant toddlers
every season. Most of them do out grow their shyness and crying within 2-4 classes, we have even had some that hesitate for the whole season but do fine
in the next season.
4. Compliment, Praise, and Encourage your Toddlers: When your child participates in the class exercises and routines, does not run off
the floor or distracts the class, please compliment and praise your child for being good. For those that have toddlers that do very well right from the
start, be sure to praise them for doing very well. For those that are having some issues with class, encourage them to do better and follow the routine,
immediately praise them if they do well.
Ages Four through Six: This age is generally very cooperative
and attentive and do very well in class, however, occasionally we have energetic active youths. We strongly encourage parents with energetic youths to please
limit their chatting and interaction with other class members if it is constant through out the class and on a weekly basis. Please keep in mind that some
kids need all the help they can get during class to learn their routines. Parents of other students do get discouraged if another child is constantly distracting
their child from learning. We also recommend that parents praise and encourage students for good behavior after class let them know they are doing well!
For those that may be having a harder time learning, we ask parents to encourage them to keep trying and practice as much as possible at home.
Shoes and Dress Codes
In the past I have not really been enforcing dress code for the classes, however due to the fact that so many do not dress appropriately for class,
starting in 2007, dress codes will be enforced. Students that attend class without proper clothing will be supplied clothing by the instructor and asked
to change before they can participate in class. Because this will raise questions WHY, we ask parents to please read or FAQ page for answers. Each season
is slightly different, meaning different shoes and clothing are needed, Please visit the season section for clothing and shoes necessary for class.
Volunteers and Donations
Due to the fact we have had a terrible time getting more parents to contribute where needed, starting in 2007, parents will be required to sign up for
all shows, performances, and other KKZ activities. On participation application, all parents will be required to either fill in a volunteer position or
donate something for the show or activity. This will help eliminate waiting for parents to sign up, last minute sign up, and parents backing out at the
last minute.
More rules will be posted as they are needed, rules can also
be changed as they are needed. Please review the rules each season for any new rules and changes
